Catch Skull Location in Keyes

Secure the timed Catch Skull on Heroic or higher with a Rally Point Alpha route, gravity-lift positioning, interaction timing, recovery plan, and a clear explanation of the grenade-heavy modifier it unlocks.

Master Chief facing a glowing alien threat in Halo: Campaign Evolved

Set the Keyes run up before touching the gravity lift

Catch is the first Skull in Keyes and is easiest to isolate from Rally Point Alpha. Select Heroic or Legendary, remove optional modifiers that slow movement or consume extra ammunition, and begin with a route focused only on reaching the gravity lift. Optical camouflage is useful when it is available because the pickup depends more on arriving cleanly than on clearing every enemy along the path.

The Skull is tied to the lift ascent rather than a pedestal that can be revisited later. Clear the marked enemies required to activate the sequence, but do not wander around the beam after it becomes usable. A single failed ascent normally means reloading the checkpoint or restarting from the Rally Point, so enter with full shields and know where the center of the beam is before committing.

Hold interact near the top of the lift

Stand near the center of the gravity beam while facing away from the entrance used to reach the room. As Master Chief rises, keep the camera stable and hold the normal interact command—X on Xbox, Square on PlayStation, or E on keyboard—when the lift approaches the ceiling. The target is above the usual sightline, so tapping once at floor level will not collect it.

Do not jump wildly inside the beam. Sideways movement can push Master Chief away from the interaction volume, and spinning the camera makes it harder to repeat the timing. Hold the command through the last part of the ascent and watch for the collectible notification. If the lift deposits the player aboard the ship without that confirmation, reload immediately instead of continuing toward the next checkpoint.

Confirm Catch before continuing the mission

Catch increases the frequency with which enemies throw and drop grenades. The modifier can turn ordinary Grunt and Elite encounters into volatile spaces, especially when Boom or Grunt Funeral is also active. It is part of the broader Skull collection and contributes to Cranial, Making a Necklace, Headhunter, and Collector’s Addition, but collecting it does not require finishing Keyes in the same attempt.

After the notification appears, open the Keyes collectible display and verify Catch is checked. Mark it in the local tracker only after that confirmation. If the item is missing, restart from Alpha while the route is still familiar. Keeping the run isolated prevents a long mission replay from ending with an uncertain pickup and leaves Blind, Pinata, and the Consumed Terminal for their safer Rally Point routes.
